We offer a seamless process, taking our clients through the lighting design, supply and installation stages of the project. We design for high-end residential, landscape, facade lighting, hospitality and commercial projects. We also offer services for bespoke luminaire design or luminaire restoration.

We start the project by inviting our clients to our Studio in Vaucluse and have an initial chat about the project. This is when we have the opportunity to explore the importance of light and the role that it can play in your project.

Listening to our client and discussing the project requirements in detail is the fist step to kick off the project. As a team we define the project aspirations and scope and have conversations about the budget, quality expectations and time-lines. Once the brief has been clearly defined, we provide the client with a fee proposal based on the services they require.

Following the initial conversations with client and design team, we start to form a lighting concept. This is documented and delivered as a presentation along with glow plans, sketches, diagrams and/or images. At this stage, we also define the controls, switching, and architectural lighting products, and ensure the concept is aligned with the initial client brief.

During this phase we undertake lighting mock-ups as required and the client is invited to come to our studio to review the proposed architectural lighting products and light effects.

Once the Concept Design is approved and ideas have been verified through lighting tests and mock-ups, we start our detailed lighting documentation. This can include lighting plans and details, lighting schedules, lighting calculations, initial budget and controls specifications. By the end of this stage the documentation we produce are working drawings ready for your builder or electrician to Tender. Our designs comply with Australian Standards including AS3000 – Electrical Wiring Rules and AS1680 – Interior and Workplace lighting.

As part of the process we inform the client and issue a breakdown of the budget and estimated lead-times.

We work collaboratively with the project team and support site work co-ordinating and communicating clearly in all stages. We follow the project closely to ensure our design is installed and delivered as per the client aspirations.

We offer a procurement service for a seamless connection between design and installation. We source the lights and compatible equipment appropriate for the installation. Working with the best specialist architectural lighting firms, we curate the luminaire selection for your project to ensure quality and reliability.

We specialise in the installation of architectural luminaires that require careful handing of materials, meticulous planning and attention to detail. We can source rare components for installations that require custom solutions. We’ve installed everything from designer pendants to antique chandeliers to custom stretched fabric illuminated ceilings.

During the construction stage of a project is very common that changes to the original lighting design happen. The presence of Lightsmith on site ensures quality control and that the final result is aligned to the initial client aspirations and design concept.

We offer a maintenance service for all our electrical installations and ensure product warranty conditions apply.
